Cacao Macacchino Morning Start to Eliminate Hot Flashes

Cacao Macacchino Morning Start to Eliminate Hot Flashes

About a month ago, I started experiencing hot flashes. If you’ve never had them, you can’t imagine this event that has moved me, and so many other women, to a new level of empathy toward those going through this passage of aging. One minute you’re a normal person, the next minute, you are sweating as if you’d just done the 100 yard dash in 110 degree temperature, and the temperature is only rising. I even feel a connection with those cats, who one minute seem normal, the next, there is a split second need to be in another room.  Psycho cat seems normal to me now.

I attended a Spa Workshop at a friends house, the topic of hot flashes came up, and the ingredient Maca was reintroduced to me. I have been fascinated by David Wolfe’s book, Super Foods, for a while now. I’ve read it twice, and thought to my self, who in the world uses these “foods”, gogi berries, maca, bee pollen, but I’d remembered that book explained the origins, the benefits of, and uses for Maca. After one week if adding a tablespoon of maca to my smoothie each day, my hot flashes were gone. Gone Girl, gone.  I mean it. I told my cousin about Maca, after a week of adding 1 tablespoon daily to her diet, gone, hot flashes gone.

Maca is a root that has been used by indigenous Andean Societies for thousands of years. Not only was this “super food” an excellent nutrient source for people of the Andes, it is now proven to be a powerful superfood for extreme athletes, raw foodies, vegetarians, as well as women entering menopause. One of the things we know about Maca is that it helps to nourish the endocrine system, the adrenals, the thyroid, along with helping to support healthy hormone production.  Maca helps, according to Wolfe, because maca is an “adaptogen superfood… increasing energy, endurance, oxygen in the blood, , neurotransmitter production, and libido”.

I can vouch for the hype of maca. I’ve been adding weights to my lifting routines steadily since taking the super food. My hot flashes seem to be a thing of the past, thank God, now I’m back to sleeping soundly at night, no more sweat soaked sheets. I find it very easy to get maca in my diet, by adding the super food to my coffee, and then a second tablespoon to my pre workout smoothie, I feel like I’m covered.  Here is my quick recipe for Cacao Macaccino:

Cacao Macaccino

Cup of hot coffee

splash of milk, coconut milk, or what ever alternative you prefer

almost a tablespoon of Unrefined Coconut Oil (YES, an on the spot fat burner, get that metabolism burning)

1 Tablespoon Maca

1 Tablespoon Cacao

All the ingredients go into blender, turn it on, frapp it up, pour into nice big coffee cup, and enjoy!
